Bentley has revealed what will replace the proprietary six-liter W12, which will be removed from the assembly line after 20 years of production. It will be replaced by the new Ultra Performance Hybrid, which will become the most powerful unit in the history of the famous brand. Its impact will exceed 750 forces.
The new installation is based on an eight-cylinder unit. Bentley notes that the power is at least 90 hp. will surpass the petrol W12 in the version in which the engine is installed on the Flying Spur and Continental GT. At the same time, the six-liter internal combustion engine has a modification that develops the same 750 forces. It is reserved for the limited edition Batur family.
The company has not yet disclosed the traction indicators, specifying only that they are expressed in a four-digit number. On electric power, cars with the new installation will be able to travel up to 80 kilometers. The Ultra Performance Hybrid will be positioned as the flagship powertrain for the Bentley range. The company promises to tell more details about the new combination in the coming weeks.
Bentley already produces hybrid cars, but currently they are powered by a 2.9-liter V6. In early spring, the company revised its electrification strategy, postponing the release of the first electric car and deciding to concentrate on gas-electric versions. According to preliminary data, the Flying Spur sedan and the Continental GT family will receive a new V8 unit this year.
